Move Out Checklist

Leave Your Rental in Top Shape and Achieve a Smooth Departure with Good Impressions!

When it’s time to move out of your rental property, make sure to leave the home in a well-maintained state. Before you return your keys, follow these steps and this will greatly reduce the risk of losing your security deposit.

Thorough Rental Cleaning:

Wall Restoration
  • Thorough Rental Cleaning: Give each room the attention it deserves by tidying up and removing any personal belongings. Wipe down hard surfaces, mop, sweep, and vacuum all floors, and don’t forget to sanitize the bathroom spaces.
  • Landscape & Outdoor Care: Address any necessary outdoor tasks, such as mowing the grass, weeding garden areas, and disposing of any trash, do a final check to ensure everything is well-maintained before your departure.
  • Repairs & Maintenance: This may involve patching and painting holes in walls (including nail/screw marks), replacing broken glass, and repainting discolored walls.
  • Professional Carpet Cleaning: Arrange for all carpeted areas to be professionally cleaned before moving out.
  • Wall Restoration: Check the walls and patch holes left from screws and nails, and repaint covered areas to match the original color.
  • Floor Care: Vacuum and wash all floors to leave them spotless.
  • Kitchen & Appliances: Give the kitchen and all appliances a deep cleaning, both internally and externally. Pay attention to details like drip pans, fans, and overhead lights.
  • Replace Lightbulbs & Batteries: Ensure all burnt-out lightbulbs are replaced, and put fresh batteries in all smoke detectors.

Notice of Intent to Vacate

Planning to move out? Please provide written “notice of intent to vacate” in advance. Please review your lease for specific details. It’s important to note that you are responsible for paying rent until the end of the lease term, irrespective of your departure date.

Security Deposit Returns

Commitment to Timely Security Deposit Returns

Rest assured, we strive to promptly refund your security deposit once you move out. To assess the home’s condition, we’ll refer to the move-in form and arrange for any required repairs, if needed. The costs for these repairs will be deducted from your security deposit.

However, please be reminded that the security deposit cannot be used as your final month’s rent.
